Plain-language terms for the closed beta. By creating an account you agree to these.
Last updated: 2026-06-13
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and submit content. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is comfortable with you participating.
Some tournaments may be rated for adult audiences. You agree to use the site's content-rating filters honestly and to not submit content to a tournament whose rating doesn't fit it.
You own the limericks you write. You keep all copyright and other rights in your submissions.
By submitting a limerick (or other content) to the site, you grant Legends of Limerick a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, display, distribute, format, and create derivative works of that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the service. Concretely, this means we can:
This license lasts as long as the content is on the site, plus a short period after deletion to flush caches and backups.
You agree not to submit content that infringes someone else's copyright, doxxes a real person, harasses or threatens, or violates the law.
We don't use your submissions to train AI models — not our own, and not by handing your content to third-party training pipelines.
The site does use external large-language models (currently Anthropic's Claude) for site-internal features: generating example limericks from in-house "bot" accounts, drafting tournament themes, and similar operational uses. Your content is not the input to those flows.
Submitted limericks are automatically pre-screened for prohibited content (see "Your content" above) before they appear in a tournament. Any user can also flag a published limerick using the Report button on the limerick card; reported limericks enter a curator review queue and remain visible while a moderator looks at them.
A moderator may dismiss the report, approve the content as-is, or remove the content. Removed limericks no longer appear in public views, voting, or shared links; the underlying row stays in the database so historical tournament results aren't corrupted. If your content is removed and you believe the decision was wrong, email bschesvold@gmail.com.
You can delete your own account from the Account page. Deletion is soft for a 90-day grace period during which signing back in cancels it; after that the account is permanently removed. Tournament entries you submitted stay in their tournaments (so other voters' brackets aren't disrupted) but your authorship is anonymized.
Specific limericks can be archived from your own account without contacting us — see the limerick controls on your "My Limericks" page.
For deletion requests we can't satisfy through the in-app options, email bschesvold@gmail.com.
These terms will change before public launch — they were written in plain language for the closed-beta audience and a lawyer hasn't reviewed them yet. When they change, we'll post a notice on the site and update the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll email you.
The site is provided as-is during the closed beta. Things break, change, and occasionally disappear. See the beta operational disclaimer for the plain-language version.
How we handle your data — what we collect, who we share it with, and how to ask for a copy or a deletion — is described on the Privacy Policy page. By using the site you also agree to that policy.
